In loving memory of Gillian O'Brien - 2nd March, 1938 - 28th May, 2024
It is with great sadness that the Westmeadows Football Club acknowledges the passing of club life member Gillian O’Brien. Born 2nd March 1938, Gill passed away peacefully on the 28th May, 2024 surround by her loving family
Mrs O’ was part of the local community people, who in 1969, organised to form a committee to start the Westmeadows Football Club. She was on the committee from 1970 till 2001, she held positions such as club secretary for twenty plus years, as well as a team manager and time keeper. She also helped organised both the bar and canteen, as well as washing all of the club’s jumpers for the first ten years or more. Gill is a life member of the Westmeadows Football Club, the Westmeadows Cricket Club and the Essendon District Football League.
As a sign of respect towards the O’Brien family, who are still heavily involved within the club today, we will be wearing black arms this weekend to mourn the loss of such an incredible person and the reason we are able to wear the yellow and black jumper with pride today. Everyone involved within the football club send their thoughts to Gill's family and friends during this difficult time.

The funeral for Mrs Gillian O'Brien will be held at 1:30pm on Friday 7th June, 2024 at Fawkner Memorial Park. Followed by refreshments at the Westmeadows Football Club from 3pm onwards.
